These tools require admin level: the authorizing user’s live workspace role must be owner or admin. The role is re-checked server-side on every call, so a promotion unlocks these tools immediately and a demotion removes them just as fast.

Groupchats

  • sila_create_channel creates a groupchat. Required: channelName. Options: channelType (text or voice), isPrivate, isExternal (for outside collaborators), announcementsOnly with an allowedToTalkMembers list, and expiresAt (ISO 8601) for a groupchat that deletes itself at a set time.
  • sila_update_channel changes an existing channel: rename it (name), toggle privacy (isPrivate), convert between text and voice (isVoiceChannel), switch announcements-only on or off, and set or remove expiry (expiresAt: null removes it).
  • sila_add_channel_members adds workspace members (names, emails, or ids) and agents (AI Contact names or ids) to a groupchat.
  • sila_move_channel nests a groupchat under a parentChannel in the sidebar, or moves it back to the top level with unNest: true. This restructures the sidebar for everyone, so use it deliberately.
There is no groupchat archiving or member removal over MCP. Flag obsolete groupchats to your user instead.

Invites: sila_invite_member

Sends workspace invite emails. Pass emails (an array) and optionally channelIds to pre-assign groupchats; invitees are added to those groupchats when they accept. Inviting external guests is not available over MCP.

Pins

  • sila_pin_message pins or unpins a message (messageId) in any groupchat or DM the authorizing user can access.
  • sila_pin_channel pins or unpins a groupchat or DM (dm:<id>) in the authorizing user’s own sidebar.
Both flip the current state if you omit the pinned flag.

Workspace identity: sila_update_workspace

Renames the workspace (name, 1–50 characters) or changes its logo (logoUrl, a public https image URL, max 5 MB). High-visibility change; confirm intent with your user first. If a call is denied, the errors page explains what each denial means and how to recover.
