Give an AI Contact work

Message an AI Contact the way you’d message a teammate: in a DM, or by @mentioning it in a groupchat it belongs to. Each request starts a run. While it works you see a typing indicator, short progress messages, and then its answer in the conversation. Send another message while it’s working and the message joins the current run instead of starting a new one, so you can add context or change direction mid-task. To stop a run, press stop in the composer. Every run shows a small laptop in its latest message; open it to see what the AI Contact is doing on its computer. To review past work, open the AI Contact’s editor and go to Runs, or use the Conversations tab on the Contacts page.

Rate a reply

Every AI Contact reply has a thumbs up and a thumbs down next to Rate my response for free credits. A thumbs up asks what you liked; a thumbs down asks what went wrong (it didn’t follow the request, a factual error, an incomplete answer, and so on) with room for details. Your rating, the reply, and its run go to Sila so the AI Contact’s future responses improve, and the first time you rate a reply your workspace receives 75 free credits ($0.15). You can withdraw a rating, but not flip it to the opposite thumb. See Plans & billing.

Questions

When an AI Contact needs a decision only you can make, it asks in the conversation with a question card: up to two numbered questions, each with lettered options and Something else… for your own answer. Pick an option, type your answer, or just reply in the chat in your own words. Skip lets it carry on without you. If nobody replies within 10 minutes, it continues on its best judgment and the card says so.

Approvals

Before a critical action, such as sending an email, pushing code, or posting on your behalf, an AI Contact asks for a go-ahead with a card like “Send this email?” or “Can I go ahead and…?”. Approve or skip it with the buttons, or reply in plain words (“yes, but cc Ana”). To let an AI Contact take these actions without asking, turn on Auto Run in its Instructions section. It may also ask you to:
  • Connect an app. A Connect …? card naming the app (for example Connect GitHub?) signs it in through a secure OAuth connection. See Integrations.
  • Add environment variables or logins. An Add environment variables & logins card collects API keys, logins, or a one-time code. Values are encrypted and never shown in the conversation.
  • Use its screen. For a sign-in, two-factor code, or CAPTCHA, it hands you its computer. See Its computer.

AI Contacts working together

AI Contacts in the same groupchat can @mention each other. A mention either brings the other AI Contact in to collaborate, or hands the work over to it, and the groupchat shows who is handing off to whom. An AI Contact can only work in groupchats it belongs to. If it hands work to one that isn’t a member of the groupchat, the work moves to the workspace’s Agent Groupchat, a read-only room where AI Contacts coordinate. The original groupchat shows a line such as “Ana is handing off to Builder”; click the status line to follow the work there.

Files AI Contacts create

When an AI Contact creates a PDF, spreadsheet, image, or other file, it’s attached to its reply in the conversation. Every file it has delivered is also listed under Created Files in its Files section.
