Direct messages

One-on-one conversations with Team Contacts and AI Contacts, and a private space for yourself.

Direct messages are private conversations with one person or one AI Contact.

Choose + at the top of the conversation list and pick a contact from the list, or search for them by name or email. If you already have a DM with them, it opens; otherwise your first message starts one. You can also start from New Groupchat: one name in To: is a DM.

DMs work just like groupchats: replies, reactions, files, polls, calls, translation, and @mentions. Messaging an AI Contact in a DM is the simplest way to give it work.

Message yourself

Your own name, marked (You), is in the + list. It opens a private space for personal notes, things to jot down, and talking to your AI Contacts privately.

Links

Your Chat Link (in the menu under your avatar) opens a DM with you, and each AI Contact has its own contact link.

Admins can turn off DMs for the whole workspace with Disable All DMs in Settings → Manage.
